ViewPix^® Media Services photographic Slide and Film Scanning Service is helping people preserve their precious memories and their heritage for the next generation. Using our highly specialized, dedicated equipment, this service goes far beyond merely scanning the images.

You probably know that 35mm film has a resolution of approximately 2,700 dpi. The dedicated scanners we use have a much higher optical resolution in order to preserve the maximum possible quality and detail from the slides. ViewPix Media Services is equipped with and using the very latest, top-quality Nikon scanning equipment.

The highly sophisticated Digital ICE Quad Advanced software, with Digital ROC (restoration of color), Digital DEE (Digital Exposure Enhancement) and Digital GEM (Grain Equalization and Management), enables the removal of scratches, marks and other damage, to ensure that all your images will be preserved in absolutely pristine quality, with all the vibrant colors and sharpness they had when first captured. The good news is that we are still able to offer our very reasonable and straightforward price structure for the services we provide.

35mm film has an emulsion on one side and for that reason it is not truly flat. That is the reason many of the better slide projectors were equipped with an automatic focus system, to compensate for that problem. The first step in our process is to create an index scan of the slide or film frame. Every single one is checked individually and adjusted for correct focus and the very best exposure.

The next step is to create a master scan at the highest possible resolution. This step produces a very large file. Slides and films that are several years old are often affected by a number of things that can compromise their quality. Even when stored in very clean conditions, they will usually have small amounts of dust or dirt on them which can spoil the image. Depending on the age, type and quality of the film used, slides will often demonstrate some fading of the colors, a heavy blue or purple cast, or a “softening” of the image quality. Each slide or film frame is individually analyzed and adjusted to achieve the very best possible color balance and contrast.

Once these adjustments have been made, final image files are created and burned on a CD, suitably labeled, and packaged in a library case. We work with meticulous attention to detail, to ensure that the final results will be to your complete satisfaction. We use media that is archival-quality and rated for 100 years. We print the details of the contents, right on to the discs themselves. The media we use has a high-gloss finish that is also water resistant, helping to protect the printing against smudges etc. We treat your precious slides and negatives with the same exceptional care that we give to our very own.

Your responsibility is to sort the slides into the order you would like them to appear on the CDROM and mark them clearly so that we can understand your wishes. Complete the ORDER FORM and mail it to us with the carefully packed slides. If your slides are currently in carousels or trays we prefer that you send them to us complete with the carousels or trays if that is possible. If your slides are loose we recommend placing them in ziplock plastic bags and using bubble wrap to protect them from damage.

Our pricing structure is very sinple. We charge only 30 cents per slide.
